Ministry to Children begins at the Nursery level and extends until the youngsters move up to the Youth level. We have a capable Nursery staff headed by Toni Hilton. The nursery is located in the Fellowship Hall, close enough for Mom or Dad to know the little one is near. When the Little Ones graduate to the Toddler Sunday School class rest assured that they are not babysat. They are in a Christian learning environment. This group meets also in the Fellowship Hall and is currently led by Donna Allen and Beth Rockwell. The Old Sanctuary is the location of our Sunday School classes for Pre Kindergarten through 6th grade. We have capable, loving, enthusiastic teachers who feel called to their ministries in this area. Each Sunday, excepting Communion Sundays [the first of each month] children ages 5 - 2nd grade are offered the opportunity to attend Children's Worship in the Old Sanctuary. They are excused from the main worship following Children's Time and taken by the workers as a group to the Old Sanctuary. Our Vacation Bible School each summer would win an award for creativity, exuberance and fun !! This week long endeavor involves most of the families of our church with many visitors pitching in also. Throughout the year the children enjoy Trunk or Treating on site at OUMC during Halloween [church members load their trunks with candy and the children are offered a safe alternative to trick or treating] - and a church sponsored Easter Egg Hunt each spring just prior to Easter.
